Pirijpur union of Bajitpur upazila of Kishoreganj district. Salauddin, a farmer of this union. At one time Salauddin was happy with his wife, two sons and two daughters. When Salauddin became mentally unbalanced 20 years ago, misery befell the family. Salauddin was the sole breadwinner of the family. On the one hand, the medical expenses of Salauddin and on the other hand, the family had to bear the cost of providing food. After selling the land, Masum Mia, the eldest son of the family, was sent to Malaysia. What a cruel irony of fate. Five months later, Masum Mia became mentally unbalanced. Masum Mia come back to the country.
By that time, Salauddin’s condition worsened, he was chained. God may have wanted to keep father and son under one roof. So when he returned to the country, Masum Mia was also chained. In this way father and son were living inhumane life under one roof for many years. But hardships did not seem to be leaving Salauddin’s family behind. Two other members of the family, son Faisal and daughter Smriti, fell ill and were mentally unbalanced for most of the year.
Hearing about Salauddin’s life struggle, Syeda Munira Islam, general secretary of Inspiration Welfare Society, rushed to Pirijpur union of Bajitpur upazila of Kishoreganj district. Syeda Munira Islam could not hold back her tears when she saw the life struggle of this family. Some winter clothes were taken from Dhaka for Salauddin’s family and with the aim of making the family self-sufficient, Syeda Munira Islam bought two goats from the market next to Salauddin’s house on the same day and gave them to Salauddin’s wife. The local District Civil Surgeon spoke to Mr. Mujibur Rahman, arranging for advanced treatment for Salauddin’s family. Bajitpur Upazila Chairman Md. Rakibul Hasan Shibli Salauddin’s youngest daughter Iti has taken the responsibility of bearing all the expenses of her education. Syeda Munira Islam has come with the assurance that Inspiration Welfare Society will always be by the side of Salauddin’s family.
